A Day at the Beach...

On Sunday, April 17, we spent most of the day visiting daughter Carrie and her husband Kelly in Carlsbad. Along with their daughters, Chloe and Ava, we all headed over to the beach which is just a short drive from their home. Beautiful weather and we parked right next to the beach! What a great way to start off a new summer season.

The Beach at Carlsbad...

Yesterday a big group of us showed up at Carrie & Kelly's house in Carlsbad to celebrate the 1st Birthday of their daughter Ava (I'm sure Carrie will post photos).

On the way home I took granddaughters Haylie and Kayla to the beach near Carlsbad Village. Got this near-sunset photo with the cellphone.

My name is Bill Albrant, and I live in Murrieta, California with my wife Robbin. We have 5 children, and 10 grandchildren.

In 1959 I was first licensed as KN7JYE in Oakridge, Oregon. After upgrading to the "Extra" class license I received the current call sign of K6CU.

The first "rig" was a Knight Kit Ocean Hopper and a converted ARC-5 transmitter. Other radios owned over the years include a Drake TR-3, TR-4, and "C" line. Also a Collins "S" line, Icom IC-735, Kenwood TS-930, and numerous "boat anchors".

Recently added a Yaseu FT-950, replacing a Kenwood TS-850Sat. QRP radio is a Heathkit HW-8, and the antenna is a Butternut HF-6v.

Most of my activity is working "DX" and contests using morse code (cw). For several years I was also one of the operators at the contest station of W6BA in 29 Palms, CA. A great experience!
